Congratulations Sher!

We are beyond proud to announce that Sher Rehman of Year 11 VCAL, won the award for “The Most Outstanding Secondary Student Award”, in My Education Award 2019, which was held at the State Library of Victoria. Sher received the award from MP Tim Richardson and Parliamentary Secretary for Schools.

Below is an excerpt from the Shortlist book.

"Sher Rehman is a model student who participates enthusiastically in the HPSC Homework Support Program. Sher has encountered many barriers to his education including limited English, financial difficulty and a disrupted education. Despite this, he has shown incredible determination and consistently demonstrates the school values of Respect, Learning and Working Together. Sher recently shared his personal refugee experience, contributing the story of his journey to Australia in the professionally published book 'Tales From Hampton Park Secondary College'. Sher used most of his time in the Homework Support Program working on this project with the tutor who supported him to translate his story from his native language to English. He is very proud of his story being published."
