Assistant Principal's Report

What a fantastic term of celebration and achievement Term 3 has proven to be for our community! Commencing with the Multicultural Concert where students were able to share and showcase their heritage through song and dance; the scene was set for our students to shine.

Shortly after, our Pasifika community performed skilfully in the four C’s (Cultivating Creative Cultures within Communities) event at Bunjil place, followed by an encore performance in front of more than 300 family and friends, which was held at the Rivergum Performing Arts Centre.

The community acknowledgement of Hampton Park Secondary College students continued with one of our VCAL students, Sher Rehman, being recognised as an Outstanding Secondary Student at a recent Centre for Multicultural Youth (CMY) event by the Advisor to the Parliamentary Secretary for Schools, Liam Maloney.  Liam was so impressed by our students and staff, that he has asked to visit Hampton Park Secondary College, along with the Parliamentary Secretary for Schools.

Along with our students, our staff have also been shining. The Multicultural Education Aide Team (MEA) was recognised for its outstanding work in supporting our students’ learning. The team was selected as finalists in the Victorian Education Excellence Awards.  A gala event, with the Minister of Education, the Hon James Merlino, will be held on Friday 25 October, where finalists will be celebrated and the winner announced.  We wish our MEA team all the best and thank them for their commitment to helping our students to be the best learners that they can.

Hampton Park Secondary College is a SAFE School and in recognition of individuality within our community. In recent weeks, the Wellbeing Team has supported our community to understand issues such as individual choice and mental health issues.  It was pleasing to see students and staff enthusiastically participate in Harmony and RUOK day activities that promoted understanding and coping strategies.

As our Year 12 students approach the September holidays, it is important that they take time to recharge before their VCE exams or completing their VCAL certificate.  These holidays should be divided into rest, revision and ensuring that outstanding items are completed.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday break.
