Student Services

The Wellbeing Team had a very busy Term 3!  We have moved into our new team office in the Wellness Centre (A1) which was the old breakfast club room.  Breakfast Club has relocated to the Year 12 Study Centre.  We have seen lots of students, attended lots of meetings and planned programs.

We are delighted to announce that Julian Couzins, Psychologist, is joining our team and will be providing counselling to our students each Friday at school from Term 4.  To see Julian, individual students will need to have a mental health care plan, which can be arranged through your local Doctor.  This is the same arrangement for Mel from OzChild who has been supporting individual students for the last few years

RUOK? Day

We had a huge day on Thursday, 12th September 2019 for ‘R U Ok’ day.  We started off with a morning tea, with cakes made by our talented students, and plenty of food and fun for staff.

At lunchtime, students and staff enjoyed the Myuna Farm petting zoo, music, Headspace with their giant jenga and a raffle with prizes of chocolate and canteen vouchers.  Chobani donated yoghurt, which was a huge hit, so a big thank you to Chobani!

We would like to acknowledge the great sporting events held during the week, organised by our HPE team. This added to a fun filled week, focusing on both physical and mental health.

Wear It Purple Day

August 30th was Wear It Purple Day, a day to Stand Up and Stand Out for our rainbow youth.

Here at HPSC, the staff wore purple to show respect and acceptance of our young LGBTQI+ community.

A lunch, students and staff were invited to share messages of positivity, equality and love on post-it notes on a pride flag 🏳️‍🌈

We have some exciting events coming in Term 4.

The first week of Term 4 is Mental Health Week and we will be running some fun events during the week, including:

Thursday 10th October is World Mental Health Day.

Staff will enjoy a morning tea with lots of positive vibes.  At lunchtime, we will be having the ‘Walk and Talk’ around the school oval and invite all staff and students to participate.  Physical exercise is such an important part of maintaining good mental health and all students who participate will receive a raffle ticket and be in the running to win prizes.

Open Mic Event on Friday, 11th October

Staff and students are encouraged to sign up for our first ever ‘open mic’ event.  If you can sing,  dance or act, we want you to showcase your talent.  The sign-up sheet is in A1 and we need 7 performers to kick it off!  We have a special guest as the first performer, so come along to see who it is!

Headspace and City of Casey Youth Services have also been invited to come along and enjoy the fun!

LGBTIQA+ Evening at Cranbourne Library

LGBTIQA+ Young people, parents, carers and educators are invited to come together and share their stories, insight and knowledge with each other in a safe and welcoming environment.

Careers @ HPSC

The Careers team have been very busy in Term 3.  This is usually the busiest term of the year with the Senior School Expo, VTAC opening, course counselling and pathway meetings all happening.

We recently underwent a review of our career practice at the school by the Career Educators Association of Victoria (CEAV).  A big thank you to Linda Rackham who was an integral part of providing information for the benchmark review, together with some insightful students and parents.  We now have the draft report and will be working solidly on the recommendations to improve outcomes for our students
