From the Primary School

Hamish and Riley face their “punishment” following the Crows’ loss to the Power in the recent Showdown

Welcome to Term 3

I hope the winter break was just that for you and you were able to have a change in routine if not a holiday.

The following boys commenced with us in the Primary section of the school this term. In Reception, Nikolaos Byrne, Aiden Li, Jackson Pearce and Antonio Ventra (all started their first official day of “school”)! In Year 1 we welcomed Orlando Hutchinson and in Year 4 Duy Khang Nguyen. We also had 10 Korean boys start this week for their 3-week study tour. We hope all our new boys have a successful and happy time with us. Thanks in advance go to the buddies and families looking after our new ones.

We had 30 new boys and girls starting in the ELC this week too! Their teachers and ESOs will ensure a smooth transition for them.

We also welcomed a new staff member, Vittoria Maiorana, who is replacing Jez Bonig (LSL) for Term 3.

On Tuesday the “Ned Show” incursion, which promotes positive behaviour, academic achievement and our school goals was very popular and enjoyable. They used yo-yos to tell their story and you may see a proliferation of yo-yos in the Primary School. Their use will be restricted to certain safe spots. I bought one a few years ago and still bring it out from time to time for a few tricks – very therapeutic!

Even though our AFL football teams are travelling poorly at the moment a couple of our Primary Leaders made a wild prediction before the Showdown. Crows’ supporters, Hamish and Riley from Year 6, predicted the wrong outcome for the Showdown and there were pre-determined consequences! (pictured above)

To their credit they wore the Power hats all day. They may get there another time.

Please note from 1 August boys are expected to wear hats for play as per our Sun Smart Policy.
