First XI Soccer Pre Quarter Final Game

Co-Curricular Sport Term 3

Co-Curricular sport training and games have commenced for Term 3. The winter sport program concludes at the end of Week 5 with the annual Intercol versus CBC. Training times and updated fixtures are available on SEQTA. Please note that some game times and locations may change.

Intercol vs CBC

In Week 5, Blackfriars will compete against CBC in the annual Intercol. The Intercol always brings out a strong rivalry between Blackfriars and CBC and will see both schools compete for a number of trophies in a range of co-curricular sports and activities:

  • Senior Chess
  • Senior Debating
  • Senior Table Tennis
  • First XI Soccer
  • First XVIII Football
  • Senior Basketball

On Tuesday 20 August, the First XI Soccer (9:45am @ West Beach) and First XVIII Football (1:00pm @ Thebarton Oval) will be held during school hours. Students in Year 11 and Year 12 have the opportunity to attend both these events as a spectator. They have a the choice of attending both games or staying at school for supervised study. A Consent2Go invitation has already been sent to parents and guardians which you must indicate attending or not attending by Friday 9 August. Please note that squad members of the First XI Soccer and First XVIII Football will be managed separately.

Code of Conduct

A new initiative from the student leaders of both schools is the instigation of a participant and spectator Code of Conduct for the 2019 Intercol. All spectators are expected to abide by this Code of Conduct. Any student who breaches it will be removed from the venue, with a parent meeting following to discuss further consequences.

We recognise that Intercol provides a unique opportunity to bring our schools together through competition to build relationships and lifelong memories. Intercol provides the platform for a friendly rivalry based on respect for each other, our schools and ourselves. We understand that we not only have to honour the traditions of competition between our schools, we are privileged to have the opportunity to leave a legacy for those who will follow us. Intercol allows us to show our school spirit in a positive manner whilst also respecting our opponents.

To achieve this all players and spectators will:

  • Wear our school uniform at all times with pride and in line with school expectations
  • Ensure our language, use of social media and actions are respectful – not derogatory, intimidatory, offensive or un-sportsman like. This includes the lead up to and after the week of events
  • Commit to safe and respectful behaviour, recognising that the playing fields and arenas are for players and officials only
  • Always respect the match officials and their decisions
  • Respect the venues at which we meet for events
  • Win and lose with dignity
  • Understand our involvement as players and spectators is a privilege which brings with it responsibility to build a positive legacy for years to come
