"Sweet Candy" - Greeting Cards by Our Arty International Student!

Are you looking for some greeting cards with sweet, meaningful and personalised messages to give to your loved ones? Ask our creative international student Candy H! Candy can design a personalised card with your favourite image, quote or special message.

Candy has made cards for her buddies, teachers and education support team members at the school on many occasions. We all admire the passion, creativity and thought she puts into each of her beautiful cards. Candy says she finds making cards eases the stress of being away from her home in Malaysia.

It's great to see our international students keep up their interests to help balance their studies and personal life.

Breakfast Club

Chloe W is a newly arrived international student at Doncaster Secondary College. From her very first day at DSC, she was keen to get involved with the school community and explore the extra curriculum activities on offer. Here is her reflection on the Breakfast Club!

As a new student at Doncaster Secondary College, I am looking forward to meeting new friends but am also afraid to do so. The reason I joined Breakfast Club was to meet other students. On that day, I learned some new games such as Jungle Speed, I ate cereal and met some other students. Everyone is so friendly that I can't wait to see them next week!

Homestay Education Session

On Friday, 7 February we held an information session for our newly arrived international students about about living with homestay families.

We covered different scenarios including "dos and don'ts", whom to talk to if things go wrong and how to get along with their host family.

“The session was really helpful and detailed. It helped me understand the rules and expectations. There’s nothing to worry about the homestay. We are getting along well with each other.”

- Dong N

“The session was quite useful. It explained to me how to solve problems and the rules that I need to follow. I love the school, teachers and classmates who are all nice and friendly.”

Homework Club

Homework Club is now underway, with our first session having taken place on Monday, 11 February.

International students will have the opportunity to attend the club every Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

The purpose of the club is to help international students adjust to school and the Australian way of life.

“Thank you for explaining important information to me. It helped me to understand what 's expected of me as an international student. I’m very excited to start making new friends and study new subjects.”

- Nicolas W

“Homework Club helped me understand the school rules and I have made so many new friends. Teachers and classmates are very kind and friendly.”

- Yvonne H

“Homework Club is good because we can solve problems together and the teachers can help us with questions. The students are nice and teachers care about their students.”
