MySelf Program

A Trip to St Kilda Beach!

On Wednesday, 19 February a group of our Year 9 students headed to St Kilda beach as part of the MySelf program.

They did a fantastic job organising public transport and communicating their plan for the day.

The weather was wild but this gave students the opportunity to see some extreme windsurfers in action!

We also spoke with some students from Monash University who were conducting fieldwork to assess what pharmaceuticals are found in the bay and how this might be effecting native flora and fauna.

Having now seen the ways in which inner-city environments are used, students will go on to explore the other side of the bay in Geelong and the Upper Yarra region at Redwood Forest. This will allow students to compare how recreation and population density effect the health of the environment, as well as what impacts these environments have on their own wellbeing.

Well done to the My Outdoor students for a great Term 1 excursion. We look forward to seeing what you can achieve with the next challenging excursion!
