GTAC Excursion

On Thursday March 30th, students studying "DNA all the way" attended a field trip to the Gene Technology Access Centre in Melbourne. They undertook a Forensic Investigation to determine who killed Archie Whorl. Working with mentors, they applied their knowledge of DNA and were able to use the techniques of Blood typing and Gel Electrophoresis to compare suspects. It was good for students to experience practical techniques used in the field which we are unable to do at school.
