Review

We are currently in the depths of our school review. I would like to thank all parents who met with the panel (Rebecca, Claire, Diana and Danielle) and to Mahesh for returning written answers. The feedback that we have received so far has been very positive and reaffirms what we know about our journey. Kingswood is well placed to move forward in a very positive manner that will benefit our students. I will share more insights when the review is complete.

Kiss & Go Zone

I implore all parents to do the right thing in front of the school. We set the example for our children. I receive numerous complaints about things we should not be doing and so I make these requests:

  1. We have a crossing; no parent should be crossing the road with their child in tow in the bus zone to cross Plaza Crescent.
  2. No parent should be leaving a car unattended in the Kiss & Go zones. The Kiss & Go zone is for 2 minutes only. The driver MUST stay with the car. If you need to go pick up your child park somewhere else and walk. Do not hold up the community for your convenience. The Kiss & Go zone is exactly that. It is about keeping the traffic moving.
  3. Do not call your child across the road in traffic. Teach them to cross with the crossing supervisor.
  4. Do not brake or stop in the bus zone in front of the school. It is an immediate fine when inspectors are present.
  5. Children should be getting out of cars on the footpath side, not the driver’s side.
  6. There is a need to share our footpaths with students on bikes, as they are legally able to ride on them.
  7. Local driveways are not your personal parking space. I’m sure you’d be just as disagreeable with someone parking across your own driveway on a regular basis and showing no regard.

Our value is that we are ‘connected to community’. For this reason, we have contacted City of Kingston to increase their visits to Kingswood Primary School to hand out more frequent fines for acts that are in breach of the law. I know that every parent will accept there was a valid reason for the fine being issued.

The safety of our children is paramount and we will do whatever is necessary to ensure the safety of students where possible. This is however, something we can’t do alone. We are asking parents to support us in this endeavour.
