Co-curricular - Senior Sport

Welcome back to all students, parents and carers for Term 3.

This term sees the Winter teams chasing Premierships, with many well-positioned to have strong finishes for the end of the Rugby, Football and Tennis seasons.

The last round of ISA Tennis will be on Saturday 6 August with the finals following the week after.

Rugby this year will finish on Saturday 20 August with an away round against St Gregory’s College, Campbelltown.

Regular season Football games finish on Saturday 6 August with ISA Semi Finals on Saturday 13 August and Grand Finals on Saturday 20 August. (Please note only the First – Fifth XI, 16B – 16C, 15A - 15C, 14A - 14D and 13A – 13F Football teams are potentially involved in these finals). All other Football teams will play fixtures up to and including Saturday 13 August.

You will now be able to view the Draft Draws - Rugby and Football for the remaining half of the season via the Team App (located under the Documents tab) or on the College website under the Sporting page. (After clicking the link, you can scroll through the various sporting codes using the tabs provided at the bottom).

Please note times and venues are subject to change hours before the scheduled fixtures take place for a variety of reasons, not least of all the weather. It is also important to note that TBA or TBC should not be interpreted as a Bye.

The Athletics season commences with training in Week 3 and the first invitational carnival on Saturday 13 August concluding with the ISA Championships on Tuesday 13 September.

You may wish to make a note of the Winter season’s annual Presentation Evenings:

  • Football Presentation Evening: Wednesday 14 September, 7:15 PM – 9:00 PM (Gym)
  • Rugby and Tennis Presentation Evening: Thursday 15 September, 7:15 PM – 9:00 PM (Gym and Robson Auditorium)

Towards the end of Term 3, Summer trials will commence for Baseball, Cricket and Basketball, marking the beginning of a new Co-curricular year for boys signing up for these sports.

Congratulations

The College wishes to acknowledge the recent achievements of Old Boy Alexander del Popolo (’21) for representing Australia in Javelin at the Pacific Mini Games.

The Pacific Mini Games is a multi-sport event contested by countries and territories located across the Oceania region and is a scaled-down version of the Pacific Games, which takes place every four years. This year’s games were held in Saipan, Northern Mariana Islands at the end of June.

Well done to Alex who threw a two-metre personal best at the games with a distance of 59.53 metres. Proud of his efforts, Alex placed 5th overall in the Men’s 800g Javelin event.

We congratulate Alex and wish him all the best for his future endeavours in Track and Field.
