SSG's continue to operate this week and some parents and carers may have had the opportunity to talk to the classroom teacher about their child's progress at school. During this meeting, you may hear the classroom teacher talk about "Morning Circle" time. So, what is Morning Circle? It is a time in the morning when the students join as a whole group and talk about the day of the week, the date and the weather. Students also have the opportunity to check in with how they are feeling and perhaps even why they are feeling that why. The class teacher may also use this time to look at the schedule for the day, using visual supports where required. Students are encouraged to participate and actively contribute through movement to music, answering questions, making comments and making choices about preferred songs. Some students choose to sit on a chair at the front of the whiteboard to join, while others may choose to sit at the back on a balance ball or even jump on a trampoline. Morning Circle is a really fun and engaging part of our of the daily routine at JSA.

Great to see Room 1 students engaging and enjoying the learning activities for Term 3. They have continued to follow classroom routines and try their best to achieve their learning goals. Well done! In Literacy, students have been reading the book ‘Wombat Stew’ and learning about different Australian animals. They made animal puppets and arts/craft activities. They have also been exploring letter sounds. In Numeracy, Room 1 have been learning to count, trace and add numbers. They are also participating in counting songs and dancing using the interactive whiteboard.
Room 1 has been enjoying kitchen and garden activities such as making dampers and carrot sprouting. Students continue to enjoy sensory activities and going to the OT room. It has been a busy start to Term 3 but great to see the students having fun and engaged with their learning. Awesome work Room 1 students and staff!

This week in Room 11 we have been keeping up with the Commonwealth Games. We spent Wednesday afternoon looking at the different countries and their flags. Adam and Zayed made these into in a paper chain.
You can see Adam, Elif and Hazim colouring in their sport choice and Liam making medals.
Linking in with our data work in maths, each day Room 11 will update the Australian ‘medal tally’ and hopefully add lots of gold.
We are very excited to be involved with the commonwealth games and cheering on all the different countries.
