Capital Works Report
The Capital Works Project Team - VSBA, Jacana School, Architects, Quantity Surveyor and Project Manager have been working on the cost savings plan. Savings were based in three areas.
- The floor plan has been reduced;
- Fewer expense materials have been substituted, and
- Some aspects of the plan have been simplified.
The team worked with tenderers to identify other savings. These have now been incorporated into the building plan. The best guestimate for starting date will be the first week of the holidays.
ISF - Sensory Room.
The architect is waiting for the written order to be delivered (1-2 weeks) and then the anticipated start date will be 2-3 weeks later. Best guestimate for starting - a week before the end of term.
Facilities Managers Report
The notice boards have been erected around the school and are being used by staff to display student work and to disseminate information. Five wooden outdoor tables have been placed around the school for staff and student use. The ramp leading to Rooms 14 and 15 has been repaired. The school has made some operational changes around Annual contracts and the new vendor is working well. New signs have been added around the school to better direct parents and visitors to the front office. Equipment has been purchased for the maintenance staff to enable them to maintain the grounds at the school.
I have contracted a landscape company to update the garden at the front of the school to enable better sight lines for security and to start the development of an indigenous garden to encourage local fauna to make their home at the school.
When you are next onsite check out the fantastic new mural facilitated by Starlie and Amy, created by JSA students. It is located in the Parent carpark at the Bamburgh Street end of the Primary building.
