Hi everybody!
As we progress through Term 3, we can see each of our students' strengths shine again in their learning whilst aiming to achieve more. We have several initiatives to support our students to continue achieving now and into the future.
Term 3 SSG Meetings
Our Term 3 SSGs commenced in Week 3 and will finish in Week 5. Attendance has been varied and we predict this is due to the high number of COVID cases in the community.
Parents have been transitioning to our new system of booking SSGs via XUNO. We have encountered a few minor teething problems in supporting our families to adapt to this new process. That said, most early signs are positive.
If, at any stage, you are encountering any issues, please contact our admin team to support you through this new process. It is critical that you can access this platform as we will be using it to upload reports and implement key processes as the years go by.

Respectful Relationships School-wide Evaluation
We have decided to reschedule this evaluation to occur in 2023. Thank you to those families that offered their time to partake in phone interviews the last term. We hope that you can continue to be involved in this evaluation next year.

Semester 2 ABLES/PLSP Goal Review
In Term 3, a Semester 2 PLSP Timeline has been devised to guide and support our teachers to finalise their ABLES assessments and plan a review of each child’s PLSP goals leading into Semester 2.

The intent was to key in ample time for our teachers to undertake our ABLES assessments (5 weeks in full) and review existing PLSP goals for the remainder of 2022.
Our teachers intend for all students to work towards reaching PLSP goal attainment in all areas. In most cases, students will continue working on their Semester 1 PLSP goals yet to be attained. That said, whilst working in partnership with our parents/carers, we need to review these goals to ensure that they are purposeful and meaningful for each child.
We have a new, modified format for the Semester 2 PLSP. Apart from listing each goal and curriculum focus, we will include:
We hope that parents will then develop a better understanding of how their child can demonstrate success at the incremental, core skill level. We are certainly open to feedback from you and other parents to guide us through this improvement cycle.

JSA Website Upgrade
Our new website is up and running. We feel that it is a definite improvement on our last website. We are finalising a few last changes to ultimately get it to where we want it to be. The feedback within the community thus far has been positive!

8 of our VCAL students, who have recently completed their Year 12 Visual Arts studies at Kangan TAFE, are now attending a supplementary art, hospitality and horticulture program held by Ellenni & Co. in Essendon until the end of this year.
These students are lucky enough to undertake a range of fun activities over the 16-week block that neatly align with their ongoing VCAL outcomes in both literacy and numeracy.
