Riverina Finals Cochrane Cup Rugby League (U14s)
The KCC U14’s Rugby League side participated in the Riverina Finals of the Cochrane Cup Statewide competition. Mater Dei CC and St Francis CC (Leeton) also qualified for the Riverina Finals and provided quality opposition last Thursday.
Our first game was against arch-rivals MDCC. It was a competitive match, with both teams equipping themselves well. Ultimately, KCC were the stronger outfit and won the match 20-8. A very solid team effort, with some outstanding individual contributions from Isaac Pratt, Kai Stanmore, Tyler Jordan & Murray Baker.

St Francis also managed to defeat MDCC, therefore our fixture effectively became the Grand Final for Riverina Champion. Both teams were extremely evenly matched and it was a very hard-fought contest throughout the game. St Francis took an early lead, but KCC still went into halftime leading 10-4. St Francis were a physical team and had some very big, strong players. However, to our credit, the defence shown by KCC was inspiring, with particular mention to Captain, Tyler Jordan, who led by example in this department.
Following the halftime break, St Francis scored quickly to tie the match at 10all. To our credit, the boys remained determined and following a Kai Stanmore try we took a 6-point lead into the final 5 minutes. The final 5 minutes was a rollercoaster of possession and pressure with St Francis enjoying the majority of field position. Despite this and due to some outstanding goal line defence from all players KCC held onto a well-deserved 16-10 victory to become Riverina Champions for 2022.
Once again a wonderful team effort. Individual mentions to once again Tyler & Kai for the way they led the team throughout the game and also some very important contributions from Front Rower Max Oliver, Fullback Jag Ashcroft and Centre Murray Baker.

KCC will now travel; to Wollongong for the NSW Semi-Finals of the Cochrane Cup, with the winner progressing to the State Finals on the 25th of August at St Mary’s in Sydney.

State Futsal Championships
On Thursday, 28th July, the Under 16 Girls Futsal team travelled to Sydney to compete in the State Futsal Championships. The standard of competition was very high. The team fought hard with notable performances from Ella Barrell and Grace Holaj on the pitch and Hannah Ferguson performing some fine saves in goal.
Well done to the team. Big thank you to Cherrie Kendall for her organisation and accompanying the team on the trip.

All Schools Touch football
On Monday of this week, four KCC touch football teams travelled to Tuggerah on the Central Coast to compete in the NSW All Schools Touch Titles on Tuesday. Each team had won the Southern NSW region title earlier in the year and knew the opposition would be much stronger at this carnival. Our teams performed very well, with differing degrees of success, and the game results are listed below.
Congratulations to our Year 7/8 Boys and Year 9/10 Boys who both made the grand final in their divisions. Unfortunately, both teams were defeated, but second in the state is an amazing result.
Our Year's 9/10 Girls were knocked out in the semi-finals, but had a terrific tournament and should be very proud. Our Year's 7/8 Girls also performed well but were unable to make the finals.
