1/2D News

1/2D have started the year being focused, respectful and responsible learners.  Rewards for students who show great work habits, make excellent choices and are thoughtful members of our team are a positive aspect of our social and emotional learning.  In 1/2D the house that has the most points at the end of the week wins a prize.  Our raffle tickets reward individual students for wonderful efforts and contribute a pom-pom to the bucket for a whole class reward.  We have already enjoyed our first whole class reward for the year, we watched with astonishment as a crystal coral reef grew before our eyes!  Can’t wait to find out what our next whole class reward will be, it can’t be too far away!

We have been working hard in our ‘dinosaur’ reading groups.  We have been using Decoding Dinosaur - using our knowledge of letters and sounds, Eagle Eye – looking at pictures to find clues about the meaning in the text and Jabber the Reteller – retelling the main parts of the story.  We would like to say a very big THANK YOU to the parents who have already come along to be our helpers.

In Maths we have used counting frames, number boards and counters to explore numbers and patterns in counting.  We enjoy playing games to practise counting and skip counting.  We know that patterns and counting are all around us, where can you find a pattern?
