We would like to thank Ms McLaren for coaching us in volley stars.  We would also like to thank Mrs Monlar for making interschool sports happen. We thought that Ella really stood out a lot because she had hurt her hand but still kept going that is one brave girl, we also thought that Jasmine did an amazing job with her volleys over the net. Well done Jasmine.  We are improving each week and looking forward to this Fridays game against Albany Rise.

Last week on Friday, the Weeden Heights' basketball team set off to play against Mount Waverly North.  They beat us by a lot of points, but we stayed positive and kept looking on the bright side. The scores were 22-10, and we would like to thank Mr. Keeghan for umpiring the game and helping us succeed in our other matches.   We would also like to award MVP to Alex, for having a good sportsmanship throughout the game, and being helpful and kind to our teammates.

Garden News

It has been a terrific start to the year in the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen and Garden.  Students have been making delicious dishes using produce from our garden.

In the garden we have been very busy clearing garden beds of weeds and dead plants, collecting seeds from plants that we can use another time, preparing garden beds and planting so many seedlings.  We have lettuce, beans, beetroot, silver beet and herb seedlings settling in the lower area of the garden.

In exciting news, we will soon see the arrival of a new flock of chickens to Chookingham Palace!  The students have been asking when we will have chickens again so it will be wonderful to see new chickens here.  We are looking for families to volunteer to be part of our chicken care roster, keep an eye out for the notice and please advise if you can help out.

A very big thank you to the wonderful volunteers who have worked so hard and assisted students with tasks in kitchen and garden.  Please consider coming along to volunteer, students gain so much from working with you.  You really don’t need any special skills or knowledge, just come along and get involved.  It’s hard to tell who gains more - the students or the volunteers!
