2019 School Payments & Contributions

2019 School Payments and Contributions will be available for processing on Compass from tomorrow afternoon, Friday 16th November.

Full payment and booklist information will be sent out via compass once it has been made live.

It is the school’s preference that all payments are made via the Compass Parent Portal as you will be able to complete all annual school agreements required at the same time. Compass accepts Visa Debit and Credit cards.

Payment plans are also available if you pay via Compass. This is the recommended option if you intend to pay for all essential and voluntary contributions, but perhaps cannot do so right now.

Manual payments can be made at the office by cash, cheque, credit card or EFTPOS.  If you choose this option you must still access Compass to complete the annual school agreements.

Manual payments will not be accepted over the phone or by writing credit card details on the bottom of the payment slip.

Second Hand Uniform

There will be a Second Hand Uniform Sale on Friday 16th November 3:15pm to 3:45pm. Cash only, please bring small denominations as limited change will be available.

There will be a sausage sizzle for the workers and some cold drinks. Kids are welcome.

See you there.

Music: Count Us In

On Thursday, 1st November, the whole school participated in the MCUI Celebration day. This is recognised as the world’s largest school music initiative and we were very excited to be involved this year. This program advocates for music education by promoting and celebrating its value in the classroom. We sang ‘One Song,’ a song written by and for Australian students, while also watching the livestream from Hobart. Over 660,000 students across the country sang the same song, at the same time, on the same day. It was a wonderful celebration and the feeling of togetherness while singing was overwhelming. We can’t wait to participate again next year!

National Outdoor Classroom Day

On the 1st of November, OPS classes enjoyed lessons outside as a art of National Outdoor Classroom Day.

Here are some reflections from Year 2 students

"Reading outside was relaxing and enjoyable." - Jack

"We were breathing the fresh air and it was very quiet." - Hayley

"I could hear some birds and a dog barking." - Zoe

"It was lovely weather and we could enjoy it." - Harry

"We saved electricity because we had the sun." -  Henry

Foundation News

Last Wednesday, to enhance our learning about different animals and their needs, the Foundation students were captivated during a visit to our school by Wild Action – Nature Close ups.

We learnt so much about what makes an animal a reptile, amphibian, bird, fish or mammal; why various species have specific coverings, eat particular foods and live in different habitats, as well as which animals give birth or lay eggs. We were lucky enough to pat and hold the animals - even a salt water crocodile! Well, a baby one.

A reminder, that the Prep Concert will be held tomorrow evening, 15th November, in the school hall from 6:30pm. We look forward to seeing parents, siblings and grandparents in the audience. Please arrive no earlier than 6:15pm to drop your child off to the library and to then take your seat.

Our visit to the Melbourne Zoo is on Wednesday, 21st November. Thank you to the parents who have already offered to assist on the day.

Year 2 News

This term the Year 2 students immersed themselves in robotics and coding when ‘Bricks 4 Kids’ came to our school.

The students made a ‘Swing-o-rama’ out of lego. It was like a Ferris wheel and they were able to program the speed, the time and the sound.

The students enjoyed the hands on experience and seeing their work come to life.

Visual Arts News

Galleries such as these are dedicated spaces for young artists to showcase their work to an audience outside their immediate peers. It is an important part of any artists’ development to display their work and then have the feedback and congratulations from immediate influences such as their school, teachers, principal and of course their parents.
