Canteen will no longer be operating for the remainder of Term 2. Please ensure your child/ren bring lunch and snacks with them to school each day.

CCTV In Use at Both Campuses

Effective this year, we now have CCTV cameras operating in all areas of our College, at both campuses and on our buses.

We believe the safety of our students, staff, parents and facilities is of utmost importance and feel the addition of cameras at Officer (and NWS since prior to 2019) will be beneficial.

Nominate an outstanding teacher in Casey and Cardinia!

We have always known how wonderful our teachers are, but over the past few weeks, homeschooling we have come to appreciate them even more.

Many teachers in our local community go above and beyond for our children and it is time we celebrate the outstanding teachers in Casey and Cardinia shires.

Tell us in this online survey why your teacher (or child's teacher) is outstanding and they will go in the draw to win one of three amazing local prizes!

The competition will close on 11 June 2020 and winners will be announced on the 12th June 2020.

Parent Surveys and Feedback Forms

A number of surveys have been developed and sent for feedback and input. We are aware that these may have come through a number of channels (letter, SEQTA, Seesaw) and are compiling them here in one place that is easily accessible. We would love to hear from you across each of these different areas. These links will remain in the newsletter throughout Term 2.

School Banking

The health, safety and wellbeing of our communities and our people remains our highest priority. Due to the ongoing uncertainty surrounding coronavirus, the School Banking program will remain on hold. We will continue to monitor the situation and keep you informed with any updates including how we will be managing Dollarmite tokens for students.

In the meantime, here are some handy online resources for parents who wish to maintain momentum with their child’s financial education:

  • Start Smart: these resources have been created to improve children’s money management skills, and is aligned to the Australian Curriculum and the National Consumer Financial Literacy Framework.
  • The Beanstalk: offers videos and fun activities for children to learn about money.

2021 Sibling Enrolments

Families, it’s time to think about Early Years enrolments for 2021 (3 and 4 Year Old Kinder and Prep classes). As siblings of existing students are priority enrolments, it's important that we know and account for all incoming siblings in these foundational classes of the college. Once your child is enrolled in Prep, there is no need to re-enrol as the enrolment is automatically retained each year until graduation.

Families of the college are priority enrolments for the Early Learning Centre. If your child turns 3 or 4 next year, complete this Google Form to update us with your intention to enrol. Secure your place before the public intake begins by submitting an enrolment form by the end of Term 2.

Dates to remember

Applications for enrolment: received by last week of Term 2.

Please call 03 9796 0100 or contact me directly to discuss your child’s enrolment for next year by email:

What About the Library?

Welcome back to Term 2 of 2020. Your library team is keen to keep our students reading books and growing their love for literature.

This term our readers can:

Access a library of digital reading resources through Renaissance. Renaissance is a product Heritage College has used to provide readers with a platform to test comprehension and reading progress. It is a user-friendly website that students may be familiar with.

There are several tools within the Renaissance website that will be useful to our students during this time.

1. Read on with myON at home is providing students with access to over 6 000 books and so much more. The site provides a step by step guide of how to access each material. There is no login or password required to access this incredible resource. This free feature is available to all students until 30 June 2020.

2. Renaissance - Accelerated/ Star R

Year 2 to 8 have an account with Renaissance learning through one of their many features which we commonly refer to as Accelerated Reading or Star Reading. This facility can be used from home to complete comprehension tests after reading a book. With the completion of each accelerated reader book a student's reading progress is captured.

To Log in: Each child has a login username and password which has been emailed to you by the class teacher.

Enter the book title and click start to begin the test.

Question: Are all books in the Accelerated/Star Reading library?

No. Not all books are in this library. The library is vast and contains books whose literacy quality and content has been reviewed and vetted to be considered and deemed an Accelerated Reader. To check if a book you wish to read is an accelerated reader or is within the Star Reader Library click here and enter the title. It will list books that are within the accelerated Reader Program.

We understand that these are challenging times for our school community. If you have any questions at all, please email your library team at:
