REPORTS

Semester 1 Reports will be sent home next week - Friday 26th June.

As you may have anticipated, this report will need to look different from previous years reports.  This is a direct result of COVID-19 and Home Learning in Term 2, as we were unable to undertake the usual assessments in the everyday classroom.

Therefore, following the advice of the Victorian Curriculum and Assessment Authority (VCAA), Victorian Department of Education and Training, and Catholic Education Commission of Victoria Ltd (CECV), this semester’s report will provide:

  1. Overview of Term 1 Learning
  2. Target Skills assessed during Term 1
  3. Specialist Overviews
  4. Overview of Term 2 Home Learning
  5. General Comments
  6. Attendance

The end of year report in December will provide a more comprehensive view of the year’s learning across all usual curriculum areas.

We thank you for your ongoing cooperation and should you have any questions or concerns regarding the variations to the Semester 1 Report, please speak to your child’s classroom teacher and/or Franca Paduano & Jill Palermo. (Learning & Teaching Leaders)

WORK SAMPLE PORTFOLIOS

Due to the premature end to Term 1, we were unable to send home Student Work Sample Portfolios.  Therefore, accompanying the Semester 1 Report, you will also receive your child’s Work Sample Portfolio containing work samples from Term 1.

The Work Sample Portfolios form an integral part of our Reporting program.  Portfolios are sent home at the end of Term 1 and Term 3, with pieces of work collected from that term.

We emphasise that these work samples are not intended to be ‘perfected’ pieces of work.

They are:

  • samples of your children’s work as it is presented at the time
  • a ‘snapshot’ of your child’s learning
  • an opportunity for your child to share their learning

The assessment format for portfolios reflects how skills are assessed in the Semester One and Two Reports.

The following levels of achievement are used to assess Target Skills used in our Portfolios and Reports:

Please take some time to look through the portfolio WITH your child.

A Parent Response Sheet is also included.  It is very powerful for children to receive praise and feedback from parents and family members.
