Principal's Message

From the Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

We now have all our students back at COHR!

It was lovely to welcome back our Year 3- 6 students last week. Like the junior students, they have settled in extremely well to the usual routines of school life.

Wellbeing Week

To conclude Term 2 we will end with Wellbeing Week. This is an opportunity for all of us to focus on our wellbeing – mentally, physically and spiritually. There will be increased opportunities for mindfulness and meditation, extra physical fitness activities and a strong focus on social/emotional learning.

On Wednesday 24th June we are having a Touch of Colour Day as part of our Wellbeing Week activities. Children are asked to bring a can of food or a non-perishable food item with them on the day so we can make a donation to FareShare.

Please refer to the Wellbeing page in this edition of the newsletter for further information regarding Wellbeing Week.

COHR Olympic Challenge

Don't forget the Olympic Challenge! The idea is that we all try to learn to do something new - learn to cook a new recipe, shoot ten goals in a row, kick using your non-preferred foot, learn a new craft - whatever you choose. Share your achievement with Ms Tobin or any teacher, to earn spirit points for your team.

Farewell Mrs Marissa Kilbride

Next week will be Marissa's final week at COHR. Marissa has kindly taken on the role of Art Teacher for the past twelve months ( a maternity leave position) , taking Visual Art lessons each Wednesday. Marissa has done a terrific job in this role, sharing her expertise with the children and has manged to support the children in producing some terrific art pieces.

Thanks Marissa!

Next term we welcome back Mrs Jo Hunt who is returning from maternity leave and will take up the Art teaching role each week.

School Enrolments 2021

Enrolments for Prep 2021 are now being accepted. If you have a child commencing school next year and you are yet to submit an enrolment form we would ask that you do so as soon as possible.

COVID Updates

At this stage we are uncertain about Term 3 activities, including Year 4 camp, our Swimming Program and our Sacramental Program.

We will communicate any changes in these events as soon as we are made aware of changes made by either the Government and/or Education Department.

End of Term 2

We conclude Term Two next Friday 26th June. We normally have a 2:30pm finish on the last day however, with the staggered finish, we will have the following arrangement:

Prep, Year 1 and 2  and their siblings dismissed at 2:15pm

Year 3 and 4 and their siblings dismissed at

2.30pm

Year 5 and 6 dismissed at 2:45pm

At this stage we will be continuing with the staggered finishing times in term 3. We will advise you of any changes as they occur.

It seems unusual that as we welcome our students back to school we are already looking towards next week when we conclude for Term Two.

Again, I am very grateful to all in our community, as we worked together to navigate COVID-19 and the restrictions associated with it. It has been a global pandemic affecting people's lives all over the world. In Australia we have been fortunate that we were in a relatively well controlled environment.

Thank you to our amazing parents for all your efforts in supporting children in their learning from home, to our incredibly dedicated teachers and to our resilient students who committed to this different approach to schooling.

Take care
