We're All in This Together

Countdown is On!

The countdown is on as we are preparing to welcome students back onsite in the coming weeks. This will be done in a gradual and sensitive manner starting with our Year 11 and 12 classes from May 26th and the remainder of the college from June 9th. Detailed information will be forwarded home that outlines our Return to RSC Plan in the coming week and this will be distributed via Compass.

During this period of remote learning there is a great deal of material around social media and websites about the wellbeing of students during this time. Physical activity is very important and meeting up with friends is crucial, even if through social media platforms and apps.

The great energy that takes place at RSC during recess and lunch, rehearsing or playing a musical instrument, participating in down-ball, basketball, soccer, or football or whatever the sport may be has disappeared for the moment. That sense of connection for our young people is still so very important but very challenging for parents to establish at times when we are encouraged to stay at home. I hope that you have the opportunity to experience more time to do other activities over the coming weekend and even capture the moment for next week’s RSC Virtual Athletics carnival.

I’ve often spoken about the strength of the community here at Ringwood and it feels quite alien to not have the community physically around us at this time.  But we are a community and we need to be in support of each other. I appreciate and value the many positive comments we have had from parents about how their children have positively engaged in our online teaching and learning program – thank you so much for your support and encouragement of what we are doing.

I would encourage you to continue communicating with the school and especially the classroom teachers and coordinators, remembering that we are not closed, we are not shut down and that we are still offering our services to the very best ability we can. We want to keep our sense of community even at a time when we are not seeing each other or being with each other. It is so important for all of us to stay connected with each other and be aware of each other.

The lights are starting to appear at the end of the tunnel!
