Kitchen Garden Update

Hello everyone,

We are really looking forward to you all coming back to school so we can get back into our cooking and gardening sessions.

Mrs M has been keeping our produce growing in the gardens. Mrs Smith, Mrs M and  I have prepared some fruit for use in our kitchen program when we resume.

You will also notice a lot of new planting around the front of the school with thanks to the Woolworths Junior Landcare Grant we received last year. Thank you also Chartwell Nurseries for your involvement with the selection and supply of suitable plants to revegetate this site.

Val’s flowing garden beds are looking amazing with lots of colour and a couple of giant sunflower plants.

This week we will be harvesting an abundance of figs and quinces.

We will take some time to poach these for use in the kitchen to create some yummy sweet dishes.

Hopefully during your time at home you have been able to help mum or dad around the yard or in the kitchen to bake something wonderful.

Mr Irwin and I had a lot of fun in our scone bake off. Perhaps some of you even had a go at making them from our recipe for Mother's Day.

Today I have attached recipes for delicious Vanilla Cup Cakes and an easy Sugar Icing.

Both of these recipes might come in very handy for The Teesdale Show.

We are really excited to see what students create for their entries in both the Gardening and Cooking sections.

*****Remember We would love for you to send in some photos so get your ipad out and start snapping away and share them with us so we can share them in our next newsletter.

 Send them to  teesdale.ps@edumail.vic.gov.au

Thanks everyone, stay safe and enjoy your  cooking and gardening.
