Junior School Learning

Student Learning

Week 5 of online learning and the 1/2s are really getting the hang of things. Students are starting the day by using the check in form which is great. They are becoming experts at posting their work on the padlets throughout the day and using Google Meet to catch up with teachers if they want to chat about their learning.

One more week to go and we are back at school. The Junior School teachers are looking forward to seeing your happy faces again. Let’s have a look at our learning from last week.

Literacy

In Literacy 1/2s have had the opportunity to explore a range of topics, one of these was lettering writing. Students wrote a letter to themselves in 20 years. They wrote down in great detail how they have been living in isolation and even shared their favourite song and movie.

Numeracy

Last week in Numeracy, the 1/2s were learning about clocks and how to tell the time. We learnt about analogue and digital clocks, telling the time to the hour, half hour and quarter hour and the different language we use to say the time.

Here is some of our work from the week.

Art

In Junior Art students have been learning about the famous artist Wassily Kandinsky. They all did an amazing job in recreating his famous ‘Squares with Concentric Circles’.

Drama

During remote learning in Drama grade 1 and 2 students have been learning about using their expressive skills; body language, facial expressions and voice.  Last week they were asked to perform a moment from their favourite book and character.  Here is a screen shot of some of their videos.
