Principal's Report

Dear Parents, Guardians and Friends of Nazareth College

What a pleasure it is to hear the sounds of chatter, laughter, yelling and bouncing of balls – all coming from the school yard.  It is something that was perhaps taken for granted prior to the school closures.

We are extremely happy to be back with the entire school student population.  I commend the students, parents and staff for embracing remote home learning and utilising it in the manner in which they have.  Our staff are delighted with how seamlessly the new mode of learning was adopted and utilised.

I also thank parents for responding to our post remote learning surveys. This was well received and demonstrated that the majority of our students and families found the experience commendable and rewarding.  Personalised comments also demonstrated how professional and generous our teaching staff were with their time and level of care.

Now it is time to revert back and create another new learning environment.

One which minimises risk and allows our students to excel, not only utilising face-to-face teaching but also some of the valuable learnings that we want to embrace from remote learning.

It is clear that schooling has another dimension which has proven itself over the past 10 weeks.

I envisage that students can now engage in remote learning forum study groups from the comfort of their homes.  Breakout study groups can be formed and students can have discussion groups. They obviously can pace themselves accordingly, without having to wait for others.  Learning and utilisation of skills can now be broadly shared not only in person but also remotely.

From my office, I have also learned the importance of communication and keeping your Community informed.  The remote platform has given me a multitude of ways to communicate effectively with our families.  These have been invaluable and I hope to continue them in this new way of schooling.

In concluding, I thank you for your continued support and hope that you remain sane and healthy.  I look forward to welcoming you back on site in the near future.  Until then, please stay safe.

God bless

Mr Sam Cosentino
