All students attending St Louis de Montfort's Aspendale have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.

This weekend the Year 5 families will be celebrating their level mass at either the 6pm mass on Saturday or 9.30am on Sunday. In preparation for their mass the students reflected on the readings and wrote their own prayers of the faithful.

In the gospel reading, the major theme is the call to discipleship. We have been called by God to complete his good works, this is what makes us special.

We see that the disciples are sent out to give to others the gift of faith which had been given to them. They proclaim the gospel, the good news that the time of fulfilment has come, and then they perform mighty works that demonstrate what they preach. We too have been called to discipleship; we have been made God’s special people. To us has been entrusted the good news of salvation to proclaim to others. We must be the healing touch of Christ in our world. We must comfort those who mourn, bring back to life those who are in despair, embrace those who have been ostracised by society, drive out anger and fear and hatred.

St Paul reminds us that we are the Body of Christ, each of us adding our gifts and abilities to strengthening and building up Christ’s body in today’s world.

We are the Face of God.

Let us pray St Teresa of Avila's  prayer:

Christ has no body but yours, no hands, no feet on earth but yours.

Yours are the eyes with which he looks compassionately on this world.

Yours are the feet with which he walks to do good.

Yours are the hands, with which he blesses all the world.

Yours are the hands.

Yours are the feet.

Yours are the eyes.

You are his body.

Christ has no body now but yours!        St Teresa of Avila

Lord Jesus, help us to be your hands and feet in today’s world.

Teach us to open our hearts to you ways of love and service,

so that we will go about doing good.

Teach us to be your eyes, so

that we will look with love on our world.

AMEN.
