Good News for NAIDOC WEEK &
ABORIGINAL & TORRES STRAIT ISLANDER SUNDAY
NAIDOC Week is celebrated every year in the first week of July. In tandem with NAIDOC events, the first Sunday in July is when the Australian Church celebrates Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sunday. It is the day when Catholics from all corners of these lands gather to celebrate the unique gifts and contributions of Australia’s First Peoples in the Catholic Church.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Sunday symbolises our unity as one people in Christ. This year’s theme, A New Life in Christ, reflects the hope and promise of a brighter future, rooted in unity and shared commitment to positive change. As we approach the Indigenous Voice to Parliament , it has never been more important for Catholics to come together and listen to Australia’s First Peoples.
