Engaged Learning

Engaged with learning in the essential aspect of our school environment and is one of the foundational statements for education at O’Connor Catholic College. I am a learner

Being a learner looks like:

  • Listening and participating in discussions
  • Completing work to a standard that meets both student and teacher standards
  • Engaging with feedback to improve

Being a learner is an exciting and rewarding experience. It allows the exploration of new ideas, building on existing knowledge, and gaining skills that can be applied to all aspects of their life. Throughout this term, students will continue developing critical thinking and problem-solving skills that can be used to make better decisions and create innovative solutions. By valuing our learning and one another, it continues our goal of building relationships and fostering collaboration.

It is this focus on being a learner that allows all of us to work together to improve our literacy, numeracy and social skills throughout the course of our education. With the release of NAPLAN results for 2023 and upcoming trials for Year 12, there will be many conversations around areas of improvement that students can work with their teachers and peers on in order to develop in their learning. Establishing goals based on this, can assist in establishing tangible learning goals that can be achieved over short cycles of revision or intervention to propel growth.
