SPL Guest Report

Mr Justin Matthews

Dear O'Connor Catholic College community,

As I travel around the Diocese, visiting various schools, I feel moved to share some observations and experiences from my recent two weeks at O'Connor Catholic College.

Being a School Performance Leader for several years now, the camaraderie and support I've continuously received from the Diocese of Armidale system of schools has been positive. These past two weeks at O'Connor have been no different, echoing the same warmth and dedication that I've come to appreciate.

This enriching journey at O'Connor has been a testament to the shared purpose that resonates throughout the college. First and foremost, I would like to commend our dedicated assistant principals, Mellissa Bell and Steve Chapman. Their commitment to building a strong leadership team has been exceptional, and I feel privileged to work alongside such caring individuals.

Further, I have been moved by the respect, safety, and enthusiasm for learning evident within the O'Connor school community. Your positivity and commitment to your education is truly inspiring and deserves recognition.

As I've conducted learning walks and talks, I've witnessed firsthand the calm and focused environment the teachers are cultivating within our classrooms. The professionalism each one of our teachers bring to the table, striving to do better every day, is highly commendable.

A special mention must be made of our Year 12 students, who have taken the mantle of leadership with humility and generosity. As you approach your HSC trials, know that your leadership has not gone unnoticed. We are all behind you as you embark on this significant phase of your educational journey.

Being a part of the O'Connor Catholic College community is truly a privilege. As we move forward, let's continue to foster an environment that celebrates respect, safety, learning, and a constant pursuit for improvement.

Thank you parents and caregivers for your dedication and support.
