Family and Faith

News from our Family Educator - Ms Tracey Bowler

Every day at 12pm we pray The Angelus prayer at OLF.

The Kindy students can nearly recite each word off by heart.

Why not pray the Angelus during the holidays? Set your mobile phone to chime at each day one or more of the three set hours. The Traditional hours are 6 am 12 noon and 6 pm. You might like to synchronise your Angelus prayer with a friend or family member.

The Angelus Prayer

V. The Angel of the Lord declared unto Mary.

R. And she conceived of the Holy Spirit.

Hail Mary, full of grace,

The Lord is with thee;

Blessed art thou among women,

And blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God,

Pray for us sinners,

Now and at the hour of our death. Amen

V. Behold the handmaid of the Lord.

R. Be it done unto me according to thy word.

Hail Mary, etc.

V. And the Word was made Flesh.

R. And dwelt among us.

Hail Mary, etc.

V. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God.

R. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.

Let us pray:

Pour forth, we beseech thee, O Lord, thy grace into our hearts, that we to whom the Incarnation of Christ thy son was made known by the message of an angel, may by His passion and cross be brought to the glory of his resurrection. Through the same Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Invitation from Deacon Zeljko

Deacon Zeljko invites our community to visit the new Parish Library located near the entrance to the Parish Meeting room from the Church foyer.

It is free and you can choose any book available as long as you return it in a timely manner.

Why not have a look this weekend?

St Vincent De Paul Winter Appeal

Thank you to the families who contributed items to the Vinnies Winter Appeal. Your kindness and generosity has made a difference to someone in need. Here with REC Mrs Ross are students from the Social Justice and Liturgy leadership teams at Monday’s Prayer Assembly.

They visited every classroom to promote this very worthwhile initiative.

First day of donations with lots of gift cards too!

Year 1 SPaRS (Stop, Prayer and Reflect)

Here are some photos of 1B’s SPaR that didn’t make it into the last newsletter. Year 1 students, parents and carers participated enthusiastically in the recent SPaRs centered on Baptism and Prayer.  Thank you to everyone for taking the time to come along and pray as a class family.

Fatima Friends

We watered the garden and we were welcomed into the Kindergarten classrooms over the last two weeks. It was exciting to see the 2023 Kindergarten students in action. They are amazing at praying and are good role models for next year’s kindergarten students. Our first Fatima Friends for Term 3 will be on Friday 21st July. I look forward to your company!

Pre - schoolers, toddlers and babies with their parents or carers are all welcome to Friday Fatima Friends at 9.10am after Prayer Assembly!

Please email me your interest for either attending an adults only night at the Hall or a take home kit as I have ordered 50 kits so it will be first in first served! Each kit costs $40 and includes the house kit, board, icing bag, ribbon, cellophane and a prayer card. An order form will be issued next term but secure your early bird order with an email to me ASAP.

Happy Holidays!

Wishing all our families a beautiful winter holiday spending quality family time together grateful for warm clothes, home-cooked meals, and safe homes.

Lord:  In the midst of Winter, when the days are cold and wind can pierce, remind us of the warmth of your love. In the midst of Winter, when days are short, dawn comes late, and dusk arrives early, remind us that in the darkness your light still shines.
Amen.                    (Xavier University)
