Spotlight on Curious Learning

Year 1 - Spotlight on Curious Learning - Science

Year One have had an exciting couple of weeks conducting experiments in their Science lessons. Their favourite experiment was watching a Volcano erupt!

This final lesson wrapped up a wonderful term of learning about the unit 'All Mixed Up'. Students have gained an understanding of the properties of materials and the physical changes that occur when materials are combined. We look forward to many more engaging Science activities in Term 3.

Silver Classes - Aspect

In the silver classes we have been working on our mercy value 'kindness'.

We can show kindness by:

Hudson: asking my friends if they're okay

Harper: sharing my toys with my class

Micah: playing with my Buru's (classmates)

Dominic: using safe hands and feet

Christian: helping others when they're sad

Patrick: helping people find their way

Kerby: sharing, helping others, and playing nicely

Ben: asking my friends to play

Andrew: kindness is helping others

Sofia: helping others

Dylan: singing and making my friends happy

Book of the Week

Paradise Sands: A Story of Enchantment

Levi Pinfold (Text: Levi Sands)

Washed clean in his pool, we fall under his ruleAway from what is, for we are now his.

When a young girl and her brothers step into the ghostly Paradise Sands hotel, they fall under the rule of the mysterious Teller. She makes a deal with him to free them all from his haunting paradise. But can she hold up her side of the bargain?

This is a story of enchantment, entrapment, courage, wisdom, patience, belief, temptation and, above all, love. The young girl will rescue her brothers no matter what the personal cost. Older readers will be eager to revisit the story and the exquisite, masterful illustrations. This book has the look and feel of a classic.
