Principals' Update
Only 2 Weeks Left of Term 2
This term is a short term of only 9 weeks. We are now coming to the end of Week 7 and only have 2 weeks left. We have had such a busy term with incursions and excursions, Attitudes to School and PIVOT Surveys, our teachers writing reports and our biannual Year 5/6 Earn and Learn.
Pyjama Day and Movie Day
As our students collect tokens for displaying our values at school, they deposit them into boxes in the foyer to vote for a whole school activity. Recently they filled the box for Pyjama Day and Movie Day and the day has finally arrived - we have our whole school reward tomorrow.
The boxes for the other whole school rewards are filling up fast. Which reward will be next?
- Whole School Game
- Whole School Disco
- Free Choice Day
Remember to wear your PJs tomorrow!
Foundation Science Incursion
Today our Foundation students attended a Hands On Science incursion. This term they have been learning about weather and how it affects us and today they participated in experiments that showed the impact and effects of weather events through weather simulations.
Interschool Sports Gala Day - Year 5/6
Today our Year 5/6 students attended a whole day Interschool Sports Gala Day. As part of our interschool sport program this year, the netballers competed at the State Netball Hockey Centre whilst the AFL, t-ball and soccer teams attended Princes Park. The weather held out for the day and it was a great event.
Earn and Learn
In Year 5/6, every two years the students learn about the economics of running a small business. Over the term they cover the following focus questions:
- What makes a business successful?
- What business choices need to be made when allocating resources?
- What factors influence consumer and financial choices?
In small groups, the students set up their own small business and sell products at three market days held at school. These products are made by the students. Each group is expected to turn a profit over the three market days. At the end of the Earn & Learn unit, profits will be donated to a charity of the students' choice.
On Tuesday the second Earn and Learn Market took place. There were some fantastic products on sale and many students made excellent purchase decisions. We can’t wait for the School Community Market Place (open to CNPS Family and Friends) on Wednesday 14 June from 3:00pm.
TeamKids Information Webinar Wednesday 7 June at 6:30pm
Last night CNPS Parents and Carers were invited to a TeamKids information webinar. TeamKids shared information about the OSHC service that they will be providing at Carlton North Primary School and answered questions from parents and carers. TeamKids is scheduled to commence at CNPS these school holidays.
TeamKids will be hosting a coffee van onsite tomorrow afternoon for assembly. Their staff will be available to answer any questions you may have so any parents and carers who were unable to attend last night’s webinar will have this opportunity to speak with their staff.
Winter Musical Soiree
Congratulations to all of the students and Instrumental Music Teachers who performed at the Winter Musical Soiree last Friday. Performing to an audience can be very daunting and all our students did a brilliant job.
