Sports Update

LIGHTNING PREMIERSHIP WEEK!
It’s been a busy week for many of our Year 5 & 6 students who have been off playing in sports tournaments against our other Dendy District schools. Students were selected in teams to represent the school in soccer, netball and AFL football; finishing off our term of Inter-school Winter Sport.
We’d like to congratulate all team members and thank the attending staff who helped coach and support the teams over the three days. Our boys and girls soccer teams had a great day out at Kooyong Park on Wednesday, both coming away with a few wins and losses, but happy with their team efforts and progress over the day.
Today our three netball teams headed to Duncan McKinnon Reserve to play in a round-robin tournament also. We look forward to hearing of their experiences upon their return. A special thank you goes to Angela Tiet for her kind umpiring efforts for us today - on behalf of all netballers; we thank you!
Our AFL football team is also set for a big day of footy games at Kooyong Park tomorrow/Friday, with a mix of Year 5 & 6 boys and girls making up the team. We wish them all the very best for a great day of footy! Many thanks to our attending staff for supporting all our teams at these events.
BRILLIANT XC EFFORTS - ANGUS H
We’d like to congratulate Angus H in Year 5T who ran in the Southern Metropolitan Regional (SMR) Cross Country event in Hastings on Wednesday this week. Angus did himself and St. Finbar’s proud by running a fantastic race; placing 22nd out of around 80 strong competitors!
Angus ran in his 11y Boys age group race over a 3km distance. His time was an impressive 10:48.82 minutes! That’s at a speedy pace of 3.49min/km! Congratulations Angus - what a wonderful achievement.
HOOPTIME updates
It’s been fantastic to observe the high energy efforts put in over the past couple of weeks at our lunchtime HoopTime trials. Well done to all students that tried out; it’s so wonderful to see how many of our students gave it a go and the support given to other peers during the trials!
Congratulations goes to the students that were selected in this year's Junior and Senior HoopTime teams. We hope all unsuccessful trialling Year 3-5 students will give it another go next year.
Selected students' families will receive an Operoo permission email over the next few days which outlines all requirements for the day, rules of HoopTime and a Good Behaviour policy that both the student and spectating parents need to abide by.
PARENT HELPERS REQUEST: We will be requiring a number of parents to support their child’s team at MSAC for these HoopTime days. Please email Tania Thompson if you are able to help coach, team manage or score a few games. Many thanks!
