Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

Every opportunity that I get to go on a school excursion I am am constantly reminded about how awesome our students are.  Yesterday was no exception.  I had the privilege to go to the interschool Soccer Lightning Premiership with our Senior Girls and Boys.  The day was a lot of fun.  Our students tried very hard all day but most importantly they were amazing ambassadors for our community.  Whilst we didn't come away with any shields or trophies, I was immensely proud with how our students participated and supported each other.  My thanks to Mrs. Jo Fraser and Mrs. Sue Humble for assisting on the day and as always, thanks to Mrs. Tania Thompson for her exceptional organisation in the background.  Today our Netballers competed and tomorrow our Footballers will also get the opportunity to compete.  Full Results will be in next week's newsletter.

Please note that due to the end of Term mass next Friday, there will be no assembly.  Mass will be at 9:30am for any parents and families who would like to join us in the church.

Mid-Year Conferences

Our mid-year conferences will be held on Tuesday 20th June and Thursday 22nd June. Please click here for the booking link or use the QR code.   We encourage in-person meetings, however, if you do require a video conference, please contact your child's class teacher for the online link.  Our Year 3 to 6 students are involved in these conferences and will need to attend with you.

Specialist teachers will be available between 2:30pm and 5pm on Tuesday. Please email these teachers if you would like to book a time to speak with any of them.

2023 Semester One Reports

On Monday June 19th at 9:00 AM, the Semester One Reports for each student will be released to the community via the nForma Online Portal. However there has has been a change to the portal that every family needs to be aware of:

nForma has recently upgraded the Online Portal to a 4th version for St. Finbar’s School. This means that we will need to clear and create access for all families and provide a temporary password to gain access to their portal.

What you need to do:

  • Check the email account that is attached to the email address you have provided the school
  • Check both the inbox and spam folder for an email from no-reply@nforma.com.au
  • In the email you will receive a direct link to the portal for your family as well as a temporary password
  • Click on the link to the portal and enter the temporary password
  • You will be prompted to create a new password
  • You should then have access to the portal which will include the 2023 Semester One Report as well as any previous reports that have been distributed via the portal.

It is recommended that this process be completed on a desktop/laptop computer rather than a smartphone or tablet (however, this is not essential). Also, this will be the ongoing process for accessing the portal going forward. nForma strongly suggests that all access is cleared and recreated with a new temporary password each semester to enhance the level of security for such confidential information. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause in the future.

If you have any difficulties accessing the portal or your child’s report, please contact Teaching & Learning Leader, Callum Mills via email cmills@sfbrightoneast.catholic.edu.au.

Please be mindful that a high volume of emails and requests can come through once the reports have been distributed. The school will endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible regarding your request.

Yours sincerely,

Callum Mills.

P & F Student Disco

This Friday is our P & F Student Disco in the School Hall.  The junior Disco is from 5:30pm to 7:00pm and the Senior Disco is from 7:30pm to 9:00pm.  My thanks to our amazing        P & F committee for organising this very exciting event for our students.  Check out our Facebook and Instagram sites for photo updates on the night!

School Advisory Council Meeting

On Tuesday this week we held a School Advisory Council meeting where we discussed many facets of School Life.  Some of the topic were the upcoming school build where we will be relocating the School Library upstairs opposite the Year 4 Classrooms on the unused roof space and also incorporating an Italian room and potentially Student toilets as well, space permitting.  We also discussed our current strong enrolments across the school and the future ramifications of waiting lists and accurate documentation of new applicants for the future.  We are trialing the new enrolment program - Enrolment Tracker to assist our admin in this area.

Another discussion point was the analysis of current school communication methods and the possible reorganisation of the different platforms we use into one school app.  We will be sending out a google survey to the parent community early in Term 3 asking for feedback on what we currently offer and how we can better streamline what we currently do.  My sincere thanks to the School Council for their very valuable feedback.
