Learn what opportunities our students have been taking on

What's on at school!

Over the last 2 weeks, there has been a fast five netball competition running at lunch times. Fast five involves two five minute quarters for each game with students from all year levels, as well as teachers, on each side. The round robin competition continued this week, with the grand final being played today. Well done to all who participated!

Year 10 Foods

This week, Ms Chaplin's Year 10 Foods class were learning how to use espresso machines! Grinding the coffee beans, frothing the milk, making hot chocolates and pouring the milk are great skills for the students to learn.

Year 10 Art Elective

Students explored the work by contemporary artist Georgina Cue. Georgina Cue recreates works from the Modern era as photographs or video works, placing herself in the work. By doing this she recontextualises the role of women in art. Students also looked at the online collaborative artmaking project REMAKE which invites people from around the world to recreate famous works of art as photographs.

This project required students to look at historical artworks, plan their photographs, find locations, collect, and make props and work as a team to recreate and take photographs.

Horsham Young Mayors

Yesterday afternoon, Horsham's first youth council was announced! Congratulations to the 7 young people elected, including St Brigid's College students Liam Carracher and Tom Luke!

It was great to see many of our students at the polling booth on Wednesday, electing our young councillors. Well done to all those who campaigned!

ROBO Cup

On Friday 16th June, a group of our students attended the RoboCup Junior event. The students had a great day, competing in two events and doing well in both! Thank you to Mr Clusker and Mr Matthews for their involvement!

Year 8 PE

The Year 8 PE classes have been running Soccer SEPEP (Sports Education in Physical Education Program) in Term 2. This program is student centred and allows the students to work collaboratively and undertake various responsibilities, based on their interests.

This week,  Mrs Hobbs’ class completed their finals series. There was much excitement and competitiveness! Well done to all certificate winners and to all students involved.

Careers Expo

On Tuesday, our Year 10-12 students attended the Western Victorian Careers Expo. The expo was a great opportunity for students to discover more about future career options. Thank you to the staff who accompanied them and well done to the students for getting involved and making the most of the day!
