Calrossy in the Australia Day Awards

Calrossy in the Australia Day Awards
One of our Calrossy goals is to develop outstanding young men and women, to be independent, vocationally ready and willing to make a difference and impact in our community. It is marvellous to note formal recognition in the recent Australia Day awards:
- Edwina Sharrock (Calrossy 1998) was recognised with an Order of Australia Medal for service to community health. Edwina has made a significant contribution through her own business ‘Birthbeat’, and her broad involvement in Hunter New England Health, especially in the field of maternity care and midwifery. Edwina spoke at our Speech Day in 2017 and also donated a copy of the book The 50 Most Influential Female Entrepreneurs in Australia to every school in Tamworth in 2018. Edwina is a wonderful role model and we are proud of her achievements, making a difference to many in our community.
- Maddie Heywood, (2019 School Vice-Captain) was the Manilla Youth of the Year for her contribution to volunteer services, having been denied the opportunity to undertake an overseas Gap Year, instead contributing to her local community.
- The Senior Australian of the Year Dr Miriam Ungermere Beauman (Principal of Daly River School, NT) produced the footprint painting that was outside the Calrossy staffroom for many years.
Congratulations to each of these award recipients.
