SCHOLARSHIPS

Tertiary Access Payment

The Tertiary Access Payment (TAP) is a new payment for students from outer regional or remote

areas who move away for tertiary study It’s a payment of $5,000 paid in 2 instalments Applications

open 1 January 2021 Students don’t have to be getting any other student payment to get TAP. It

also won’t affect their eligibility for another payment such as Youth Allowance, ABSTUDY or

We only accept applications for the TAP from students starting tertiary study at a vocational

education and training provider or a non-university higher education provider. Students going

to university can’t apply through us. They must enquire with and apply through their university and if

eligible, their university will deliver the payment.

Students need to meet all of the following to get the payment:

o moving away from home to study at a tertiary institute that’s more than 90 minutes

away from their family home by public transport

o studying directly after finishing year 12 or equivalent

o studying 75% or more of a full time (or an approved 66% concessional) study load

at the certificate 4 level or above
