VET NEWS

Wow another year has gone! 2020 proved to be a very challenging year for our VET students and our VET team. However the extent of these challenges VET has persevered, and strived toward competency. Students were still able to access their VET courses through TAFE and online platforms, and were still able to complete their mandatory Work placement requirements, thanks to the many local businesses accommodating these placements.

TAFE - Students will be recommencing on February the 10th and 11th 2021, students are to assemble in front of  'A Block' at TAFE campuses on their first day. I will be sending out more information prior to commencement, please check your emails and compass announcements when we return in 2021.

SBAT- School Based Apprenticeship/Traineeships- The following students were engaged in the SBAT pathway in 2020, working one day a week, and completing their courses as well as their usual school commitments. Well done to these students on maintaining their commitment throughout the year, and will be continuing their SBAT in 2021. Congratulations to Russell Charles, Domenic Pirrottina, Nate McGregor, Cansu Adver and Eliza Peruzzi for completing their SBAT this year. And thank you to the employers for offering these wonderful opportunities for our students.

VET @ MCC- Students continued to be engaged in fun, exciting and relevant activities in their VET studies of Hospitality, Business Services and Fitness. This year was definitely challenging for the VET team to deliver lessons during the year, with the course content being predominantly practical, the teachers and students were able to still complete their studies through clever online platforms and course delivery. Students were also able to complete their mandatory Work placement requirements, again thanks to the many local businesses accommodating these placements. Thank you also to the VET teachers of 2020, Melinda Foschi, Andrew Keady and Gabrielle McMahon, who have tirelessly worked to deliver courses to industry standard. On another note, this year we are farewelling Gabrielle McMahon. Ms McMahon has been an invaluable VET teacher over the past 4 years, always working above and beyond in teaching Hospitality, not to mention the additional catering events of Amanti Breakfasts, Carevan, Cabaret nights, Musicals and many more. The students and staff will miss her, and send her best wishes on her new appointment at St Francis.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays
