Head of the Lake 2021
Postponement of Head of the Lake from this Friday to this Sunday due to the weather.
The Ballarat Association of Schools rowing guidelines mirror those of Rowing Victoria. For the safety of participants, wind strength is not permitted to exceed 30 kmh. The current wind forecast has the wind exceeding this level for more than half of the regatta. As a result, the Head of the Lake will be postponed to 9.00 am on Sunday 21 February. We express our gratitude to Rowing Victoria and the Ballarat City Council for their support of this postponement.
Rowing Victoria Spectator Requirements: Covid Risk Management Plan
The updated permit issued by Rowing Victoria for the regatta prohibits any spectators attending the event, abiding by the maximum outdoor gathering limit of 20 people. As a result there will be no school area and no onsite viewing.
If spectators do attend the regatta it is anticipated the Department of Health and Human Services will immediately cancel the event and prevent our rowers from participating.
The regatta will be available through Livestream link: https://youtu.be/8hoz-VbcDMM
We remain committed to providing an event which is the highlight of the rowing calendar for our student athletes. Whilst the 2021 Head of the Lake will be very different, our school communities remain grateful that we are at least able to provide this opportunity for our rowers to enjoy and showcase all of their hard work and training, wishing them all the best for Sunday.
