Principal's Message

Dear Parents, students and the wider community,

We have greatly enjoyed having our Foundation students here for all of this week (except their rest day on Wednesday of course). The school certainly has a real energy each morning with so many families coming in at drop off. I loved them visiting me in my office!!

I have needed to send out Seesaw announcements over the past few days as the number of Covid cases grows within our school community. In regards to a COVID positive test at home please inform the school as to whether any student absence is due to having the virus or your child is isolating as a close contact. As I become aware of any cases where students or staff have attended the school in the previous 48 hours I will alert the school community with information about which particular classes have had extended contact. All I can say is - fingers crossed!

Thanks for those who attended Camp Information Night on Wednesday evening I am sure there are some nerves and a whole lot of excitement about camp at Portsea between Monday 7th March- Wednesday 9th March. The staff attending are Mrs Ary, Mrs Brooking, Miss O'Donnell and Mr Bright. They too are getting very excited!

Next Monday at assembly our Year 6 students will be presented with their Leadership Badges. Parents are welcome to attend who are double vaccinated and they will be required to sign in and present their vaccination certificate. We look forward to a great year for our Year 6 students.

This week our Parish Sacramental team of staff from our school and St Joachim's as well as Fr Martin and Sumitha from our Parish met to discuss dates for the 2022 Sacramental Program. If your children are Baptised Catholics, they are in Year 3, Year 4 or Year 6 and you wish for them to continue their Sacramental journey please keep an eye out for future correspondence.

We have our Foundation 2023 Open Mornings on February 28th and March 28th coming up and these will be at 9.15am. If you already have an older sibling in school there is no reason to attend, though you are welcome to do so. However, if you have friends or neighbours that may be interested in their child joining our school in 2023 please let them know to contact our office. Those with siblings who are in the correct age group for Foundation in 2023 please also contact Mrs Trower in the office or email dtrower@saseaofrd.catholic.edu.au so she can arrange for enrolment forms to be sent home if she has not already reached out to you.

First term Parent - Teacher meetings for Year 1-6 will be on Thursday 24th February between 3.40-8.00pm. Due to the COVID situation we will do these on-line.  To book your time slot please go on to www.schoolinterviews.com.au and use our code p8vjm. You will then be able to go to the availability tab on the left hand side to select a time on that afternoon or evening for your child/children. The aim of these particular meetings are for you to help your teacher better understand your child's strengths and interests and identify areas you think they may need to focus on this year.

A reminder that is you would like to be considered for appointment to the School Advisory Council please request an application package via email from the office and return your application by 4pm Friday 18th February.

May God bless you all,

Rod Shaw

Principal
