It's great to be back on site with students

We are back! 2022 has started off with a fantastic introduction of new staff and students, the exploration of new learning spaces and the excitement of being on site and in front of students. I cannot stress enough how great it is to have students here. Seeing their faces every day and interacting within the learning environment is just fantastic. Every Learning Mentor I speak with always says, “It is so great to have students here!” “How good is it to be back?”

It is also great to see within one week the change in some students, the wonderings, the creation of work and flexibility they show every day and it is a testament to the work done within the year levels.

On Wednesday, Year 9 students worked on composing their story for an ABC competition; Takeover Shepparton, related to their provocation of “Each of us has a story”. The brief was simple, yet yielded some really great responses from students and the ideas they wanted to share. Good luck to those who submitted their story, as the winners are then given great opportunities to develop their idea and produce it with the help of the ABC production team.

Just like the Year 9 team, Years 7 and 8 have their Global Learning provocations revolving around relationships, identity and really getting to know each other, not just as people within the learning space, but who we are when we leave the learning space. Walking around the spaces and seeing the positive interactions between staff and students is what makes St Anne’s a great place to be. Having the core Learning Mentors allows relationships to build quicker and be long lasting.  I cannot believe it is Week 2 already!

Please find a list of our Learning Mentors and their contact details on the 2022 Staff page in this edition of il giornale.

Year 7s learn how to be scientists

Year 7 students are currently learning how to be scientists. They have been investigating their beliefs about what a scientist looks like, what a scientist does and exploring the different areas of scientific study. As part of their introduction to the science curriculum, they have also been discussing safety, and expressing their ideas around being their best and helping each other to succeed in the science space. Liam Carboon has put together some of the results of this discussion below.
