Sports

Hello Brentwood Students and Families.

As Director of Sport I would like to officially welcome everyone back for what I am sure will be an amazing 2022!

As usual we have many opportunities for our students to get involved in the sporting culture at Brentwood in term 1. These include:

  • Swimming Carnival: taking place next Tuesday the 8th of February at Monash Aquatic Center, the swimming carnival is always a fun day in the sun and allows all students to contribute to their house points through swimming events as well as water-based and land-based novelty events.
  • Athletics Carnival: taking place on Thursday the 24th of March, the athletics carnival will once again be at the Bill Sewart athletics track. Sign ups for the students will be put up two weeks before the day so please ensure they get involved!
  • Inter-school sport: Term 1 sports including tennis, volleyball, cricket, baseball and softball will be run across the junior (6th April), intermediate (18th March) and senior (21st February) dates. Signups for these days have been sent to the students today so please encourage them to choose their favorite sport and attend the try outs!

As part of the Monash division our students have the privilege of competing against our neighboring schools of Wellington, South Oakleigh, Wheelers Hill and John Monash at the division level, with successful students and teams then progressing to the Eastern Metropolitan Region (EMR) level.

Unfortunately due to the requirements of governing sporting bodies and external sporting facilities it is a requirement that students are able to provide proof of full vaccination or that they are in the process of becoming fully vaccinated. This is to ensure that all students remain safe while competing against other schools.

After a challenging two years without a full sporting program I very much look forward to seeing our amazing students dive in and help represent our school and grow our wonderful sporting culture.
