E-School

Innovation and Enterprise

One of the HCC Strategic Priorities is Innovation and Enterprise – the objective is:

To raise Christian thinkers, designers, and entrepreneurs who solve problems and create ethical and sustainable social and business solutions.

E-School stands for Entrepreneurial and Enterprise School. All Year 7 to 9 students will participate in E-School, where they learn to innovatively, creatively, and ethically solve real-world problems. They also communicate these solutions, develop an understanding of economics, business, and leadership, plan and set up businesses as appropriate, all while building skills to work independently and collaboratively with others. Throughout the year, students learn and apply essential 21st-century skills.

In Year 9, the students are planning to work together to open a kiosk in the gym foyer. They have identified the skills and abilities of the group, come up with some ideas, and tested out their business model using a business model canvas (see picture below). They are now at the market research stage, and if you could help them by answering (please click) this short survey. The survey will help them as they progress to the implementation stage of their kiosk project idea.

In Years 7 and 8, plans are underway to participate in the Clean Up Australia campaign and make a difference to the area we live in, by working together to clean up Mordialloc Beach and its surroundings. This will allow our students to serve our community. Students have brainstormed issues and worked on a risk assessment plan for the day and used creativity to respond to the issue of rubbish in our environment by enjoying an activity where they created something out of paper waste or used Lego to respond to the idea of sustainability.
