Principal Message

Hello everyone,

The last three performances of “Hairspray’ are on tonight and tomorrow. Some tickets remain for the Saturday matinee only. Congratulations to all involved! It is an extraordinary production and is receiving the best reviews I have heard for a school performance of any type. The excited and appreciative response from the Wagga Wagga Catholic Primary Year 6 audience at dress rehearsal last Thursday set a tone that has been matched since and will continue over the weekend. Thanks to everyone who supported and attended the Kildare production of ‘Hairspray’.

Next week I am away Tuesday through to Friday at the NSW Catholic Principals’ Conference. There is a Diocesan expectation that all principals attend as a professional learning and system-building initiative. Thanks in anticipation to Alison, Christie and the rest of the Leadership Team for the extra load during this busy week.

NAPLAN testing is on next week for Year 7 and Year 9 students. The message to students has always been to try their hardest so that they, their parents and their teachers can collect another measure of how learning is going and how learning can be better supported. Some students have anxiety about NAPLAN and we work hard to reassure them that it is just another source of information, like our own OARS testing, that helps identify strengths, and areas for more attention. Please emphasise this supportive message at home and contact a Leadership Team member or Academic Care Coordinator if you believe a student is feeling anxiety because of NAPLAN.

Good luck to our footballers and netballers in coming weeks as Carroll Cup, Currie Cup and Tracey Gunson Shield draw towards finals.
