A great educational experience

STAGE 5 MUSIC - VIRTUAL EXCURSION

Thursday 2 April, 2020

The Sydney Opera House

Our Music class went on a Youtube virtual excursion to the Sydney Opera House. It might sound a little lame at first but we all had a great time. First of all our Music teachers met us at Town Hall station where we hopped on a train to Circular Quay. We all made fun of Mr Abbott for his lame jokes about trains just as we would have made fun of him on a real excursion.  After leaving the train at Circular Quay station, we started on the iconic walk to the Sydney Opera House. We got to see the ferries coming and going from the wharves and listened to the buskers as we strolled by the Quay.

It was a beautiful sunny day and you could almost smell the warm sea breeze coming from the choppy water. When we arrived at the Opera House we went on a 360 degree virtual tour of all the different rooms in the Opera House.  We watched an upgrade to the Joan Sutherland Theatre and how and what they did. We then took in a quick performance of the Game of Thrones theme in the Concert Hall. We were all very hungry at this point, so we were given time to get some late lunch and eat as we watched a video about the Bennelong Restaurant, the premier restaurant at the Sydney Opera House. By this time the sun was starting to go down and Missy Higgins gave us an epic performance in the Forecourt.

It might not have been the real thing, but we appreciated the effort put in by our teachers to do something different during this time we are stuck at home.

We have included the excursion here if you want to try it yourself at home.
