REMEMBRANCE DAY SERVICE

Yesterday our school choir and the children in the Combined Schools Choir sang at the Coburg RSL as part of their Remembrance Day celebrations.  It was a very beautiful service and a wonderful opportunity for our students, not just to perform, but also to experience and realise the significance of such a special occasion.  We were certainly extremely proud of the choir’s performance and also their respectful behaviour throughout the service. Well done and thank you to Caterina Cantiani, Avia Di Bartolo, Nakita Gertos, Alice Hockey, Kiara Massa, Ava Piotti, Siearra Polidano, Madeleine Russ, Leah Sortino and Jessica Tonna.  Thank you also to the families who attended with their children to support our school and choir.  It is very important for the next generation to understand these important traditions and their historical significance and it was a privilege for our school to be asked to contribute to this service.

Our school choir rehearses during school hours and the Combined Schools Choir rehearses with myself and Mr Michael Travers on Monday afternoons in the music room after school. I attend the rehearsals for the St Matthew’s School Choir on Thursday afternoons after school, so that the two choirs can join together for special occasions.

We will be joining the Coburg RSL again next year for their ANZAC Day and Remembrance Day services.  Any students in years 3-6, who would like to join the after school choir are most welcome.

The next choir performances will be on Friday November 22 at our School Christmas Market; the Parish Celebration of St Cecilia, patron Saint of Musicians on Saturday November 23rd and at the Parish Senior Citizens’ Christmas Lunch on December 4th.

The whole school choir performed the song today for the school community in a special Remembrance Day prayer service.
