Australia Day Performance
Imajen James, front, with the Aboriginal Dance Company & Kari Choir
Talented Cowra High Indigenous dancer, Imajen James, performed with the NSW Public Schools Aboriginal Dance Company in Sydney on Australia Day. The group participated at the WugulOra Ceremony held at Barrangaroo at 8am, where they performed Clan, which they showcased in the State Dance Festival last year. In the evening they were part of the Australia Day Concert held at the Opera House where they danced Djapana while Sebastian Kelly-Tolava sang Sunset Dreaming accompanied by the Kari Choir. Djapana was a new dance they learnt and rehearsed at the Arts Unit under the direction of Bangarra Dancers in the preceding four days.
The Australia Day Concert was televised live by Channel 10 and Imajen met many of the other stars featured in the event such as Guy Sebastian and Dami Im plus the compere, Grant Denyer.
