PRAYER
"Believe in the whisperings of God to your own heart."
Mary MacKillop
This beautiful saying of Mary Mackillop reminds us that God is with us always, we really only need to take time in silence to listen and hear. Before we know it we are in dialogue with our God and isn’t that true prayer?
Colour Awards
This year we have conducted our Sports Colour Awards through a range of Friday Morning Sport Assemblies presenting the many Blue colour Award winners. Last Thursday the Awards culminated with the Silver and Gold Awards being presented at a ceremony in The Concourse with all students from Years 7 to 12 in attendance.
Our special guest was Old Boy Mitch Grant who told his inspirational story to the boys. Mitch was a middle of the road student who was involved in school life like any other student. He was in trouble at various stages and admitted that he was not an easy youth in his teenage years. After he left school his passion became motorbikes. The unthinkable happened and Mitch suffered the most horrendous bike accident. He was lucky to survive and at one stage it was likely that he may become a paraplegic or lose both his legs. The surgeons were able to save one leg but he lost the other and wears a prosthetic leg. Mitch shared his story of determination and how he came to realise the inner strength that he never thought he had. He has not only recovered but become a well renowned international speaker for his achievements in overcoming adversity as an amputee. He now also owns and runs his own Gym at North Ryde.
I congratulate all the Colour Award recipients and a list of these students is attached below.
Year 11 Exams

Vicko Poon (Year 9) - Speed Skating Success
Athletes from New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland and Western Australia competed for their state in the 65th annual Duke Trophy short track speed skating event at Sydney’s Canterbury Olympic Ice Rink on 29th - 30th July 2017. This is a national short track speed skating event where skaters from across Australia score points for the state they represent and hence it is also known as “State of Origin on Ice”.
Vicko was selected in the NSW team and competed in the Junior B Division. He was also one of four skaters selected for the 3000M Relay in the NSW Junior B Division and his team won in the relay. Congratulations Vicko for your contribution to New South Wales winning the Duke Trophy this year.
