Congratulations to the following students:
ISA
In his Colour Awards speech last Friday Matthew Hall spoke about the Olympic motto, the hendiatris Citius, Altius, Fortius which is Latin for "Faster, Higher, Stronger". He was referring to the culture within the St Pius X College Athletics team. Matthew emphasised that at St Pius X College it is the 'ER' in Faster, Higher and Stronger that is important and not the 'EST' in Fastest, Highest and Strongest. At the College we work hard to improve our own personal best times, heights and distances. Athletes are competing against themselves to strive to improve. Hard work through training, listening to advice from coaches and competing is rewarded by improvement. It was this approach that our athletes successfully applied throughout the season and then took into the ISA Championship. The team effort enabled us to finish with the following results:
ISA BOYS DIVISION 1
Next year I would like to encourage more students to get involved. Whilst the ISA team is selected, the training and participation in the Invitational Carnivals is open to everyone.
We are very fortunate to have an extremely talented group of old boy coaches that work with our athletes: Will and Sam Richardson, Anthony Collum and Anthony Arruzza. Not only are they excellent athletes themselves but as coaches they are able to pass on their experience and knowledge in a supportive and motivating manner. I know the boys they have coached are very grateful and appreciative of their efforts.
I would like to personally thank Sally Richardson who has helped out at carnivals, organised training and coaches for over 10 years.
Congratulations to the following Athletes who have been selected to represent the ISA at CIS: James Brown, Thomas Hunt, Kalani Lenehan, Oliver Aylmer, Lachlan Mathie, Daniel Hall, Kyle Bowen, Angus Cutbill,Tim Hallissy, Matthew Hall, James Hunt, David Jelovic, Dominic Panozzo, Sam Holm, Connor Ryan, Oliver Sheather and William Wylie.
