Year 2 Edenhope Library Visit

On Wednesday November 25, Miss Nicky took the Year 2 students down to the relocated Edenhope Library. Students enjoyed the new facilities and a few came back armed with library memberships and were able to borrow some books! Thanks to librarian Melanie for letting them visit!

Year 3/4

The 3/4 students have been focusing on location in maths. This week, their task was to create a path for our class pet Cozmo!

They had to create a path of squares to specific measurements and then code the directions for Cozmo to follow on the iPad. The 3/4s have really enjoyed this task and Cozmo has done lots of new exploring this week.

Year 3/4/5 Edenhope Flora Reserve Excursion

On Monday, the Year 3/4/5s went on a nature walk to the Edenhope Flora Reserve. Whilst there, they had the opportunity to learn about Indigenous culture with Uncle Ron.

We started the day by examining and using some traditional hunting tools such as Boomerangs. The students did some experimenting with eucalyptus leaves and created bird calls.

Uncle Ron showed the students native peach seeds called ‘Quandongs,’ and they cracked them open and tasted what was inside. They discussed traditional ingredients, specifically, Ochre, which is used by Indigenous people as a skin remedy and in ceremonial face painting. After discussing, they were able to paint using Ochre on rocks and on each other’s faces.

On our way back we explored the nature trail and examined the native flora.

Uncle Ron was very impressed with the students effort and behaviour, as were Mr Irvin and Miss Pearson.

Thank you to Rachel Farran for offering our students the opportunity to learn from Uncle Ron.
