Acting Principal Report

Virtual Awards Night

The year is closing in fast and just letting everyone know that we are having a virtual awards presentation this year. All awards will be presented to students, photographed or filmed and then posted electronically where the community can view them at their leisure. We will message everyone once the presentation is set. It is important that student achievement be recognized and even more so in recent times.

Lions Club president and Bendigo Bank Board President Harry Ostendorf dropped in recently to help with recording of some of the presentations. Thanks Harry and all other sponsors who are helping us put together a celebration of the achievement of our students in 2020!

Staffing

Morgan Coventry our 2021 VCE PE and Psychology teacher came up from Melbourne for a visit during week 7. Morgan visited classes and got a feel for the school and is excited about moving to Edenhope and teaching at Edenhope College. Morgan has already been signed up to play netball with local side Edenhope/Apsley, which shows her passion for being a part of the local community.

Staff are really working hard to get what positive outcomes for the students that they can, in what has been a difficult year for all and I thank them for efforts over and above.

School Review

In the last Whytalla I spoke about our review and since then it is complete. Every four years when you have a review, you have a team of other principals (and like), do an audit of the school with the view of helping develop the next ‘four year plan’. All the learning community was canvassed for information that will help set this plan up. Our final review day was 5/11/2020 and actions form the review are about to start, some already have. There are some exciting challenges for us as we move forward with the aim of having engaged happy students excelling with their learning. The review outcomes will be shared with staff and the learning community as we move into 2021.

Leadership Camp

It is so good to finally see our four students who nominated to go to Leadership Camp, finally get the go ahead to go on a short trip to the Glenormiston area. The outdoor education camp is situated at Gnurad-Gundidj near Mt Noorat – towards Colac. Students had an action packed time.
